Acey Holmes, MS, CCC-SLP
Solve Learn Play, founded by Acey, supports organizations, creators, and legal teams at the intersection of play, learning, accessibility, and communication. With over 15 years of experience as a speech-language pathologist and 6 years as a Teacher of the Deaf, Acey brings deep clinical, educational, and developmental expertise to consulting and expert witness work focused on how children learn, communicate, and engage through play.
Acey specializes in evaluating and advising on children’s products, educational materials, games, toys, apps, and learning environments to ensure they are developmentally appropriate, accessible, and inclusive for children with speech, language, and hearing differences. Through Solve Learn Play, she partners with product developers, publishers, designers, and organizations to identify hidden barriers, strengthen learning impact, and align products with research-informed principles of child development, speech and language acquisition, and inclusive design.
Her professional background spans both educational and clinical settings, including extensive experience supporting deaf and hard-of-hearing children, children with language delays, and neurodivergent learners. This dual perspective allows Acey to translate complex developmental science, neuroscience, and communication research into clear, practical guidance that creators and decision-makers can use with confidence.
In addition to consulting, Acey serves as an expert witness in cases involving child development, communication disorders, educational access, and product-related learning claims. Her expert witness work is grounded in evidence-based practice, professional standards of speech-language pathology, and a nuanced understanding of how children actually interact with materials in real-world contexts. She is known for delivering clear, credible analysis and testimony that bridges research, practice, and legal standards.
Acey’s work through Solve Learn Play reflects a core belief: play is foundational, not extra. When thoughtfully designed, play-based experiences can support language development, cognitive growth, social connection, and access for all children. Solve Learn Play helps ensure that the products and systems shaping children’s experiences are not only engaging, but responsible, inclusive, and developmentally sound.
